MedFemiNiswiya was born out of our collective awareness of the underrepresentation of content by and about women. From this awareness emerged Medfeminiswiya, the first feminist media platform published in three languages -English, Arabic and French- where content is produced by a diverse network of women journalists from across the Mediterranean region.

Since 2021, the platform’s priority has been to make visible and accessible the feminist struggles, movements and activities around the Mediterranean. The platform responds to a strongly felt need for genuine conversations and exchanges, as well as verified and balanced information that also helps to deconstruct misogynistic and racist stereotypes, fake news and hate speech.

For at least two years, our network has been producing written and video content by journalists hailing from Algeria, Croatia, Egypt, France, Italy, Lebanon, Libya, Malta, Morocco, Montenegro, Palestine, Spain, Syria, Tunisia and Turkey.

Our meeting in Tunis is the third meeting bringing together members of the MedFemiNiswiya network, and the first in-person meeting after three years of remote work. The objective of the Tunis gathering is to take stock of the network's recent activities and to assess together the editorial productions and work achieved so far. At the end of the meeting, we hope to develop the pillars of our upcoming strategy to better plan the future of the network and platform.

The Tunis meeting includes various workshops which we view as an opportunity for a cross-generational exchange between journalists and members who are encouraged to share their different skills and rich experiences with one another.
